Louise is a dual British-American citizen who has enjoyed a career in classical music and publishing — as an editor, record producer and in public relations — on both sides of the Atlantic. She started the Glossophilia blog in March 2011, and launched the spin-off podcast series in 2020, with her friend and fellow glossophile Paul.

Am I being a pedantic old git in objecting to “ask” as a noun, as in “a big ask”? Thankfully, I have yet to see this in written or electronic communication, but it has become common in the broadcast media. John Humphreys is a constant offender.
We would like to use your homophone example (https://im262f.a2cdn2.secureserver.net/wp-content/uploads/homophone.png in a video we are producing entitled ” Physicians guide to environmental odors”. We want to use it to show how odor receptors compare to how we use the 26 letters in the alphabet to make different words.
